I have been lucky enough to play all the episodes of The Walking Dead as they were released and so far, I have been impressed with the thought that has been put into each episode. They meld together in a cohesive storyline but are in depth enough to give you a full game experience.
Around Every Corner was written by Gary Whitta (Book of Eli) and he did a masterful job of continuing the story of Lee. I have said from the beginning that I was hesitant about an episodic game with different writers because I was worried it would feel scattered and like it was written by different people. Telltale certainly knows what they are doing because after four episodes, it has not fallen prey to that.
This episode has whomever is left in your game arriving in Savannah. Someone is stalking the group and it appears this person is trying to get the group killed. Savannah is as big a ghost town, though full of zombies, as the rest of Georgia. However, there is a “city” within this city called Crawford. Crawford was started as a safe haven for survivors but their requirements for entry are harsh and unforgiving.
Now I am going to stop here since I know you don’t want spoilers. Your group will meet new people and you will learn more about Savannah and Crawford. However, there are fewer decisions in this episode. They are there but this episode is more about story telling and preparing for the last episode. It’s good, just as good as the others. It is harsh and you will probably find yourself yelling “no no no” at the screen like I did. You will also see some of your past decisions come back to haunt, or help, you. I will just say that Kenny is very mad at me right now and I am regretting some past choices.
All in all, still a very solid game and I still stand by my recommendation that everyone should play it. If you don’t want to buy a downloadable game, a disc version will be released in December.
