This Is It, the Final Day Of The Steam Summer Sale

Posted on July 22, 2012 AT 11:46am

Crawling broken, beaten and penniless to the finish line, the final day of the Steam Summer Sale is here.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River is 75% off for only $11.24, so if you want a tactical, methodical, and incredibly buggy mess to add to your library of shooters – go for it. I actually kind of like this game, but I like Arma. So yeah.

SPAZ – Space Pirates and Zombies has a pretty cool name, and for only $2.49, this arcade style top down shooter show surprising depth once you get into it. It won’t blow your world away (actually, it will, in game), but it’s absolutely worth a purchase.

Extremely popular in the UK, Football Manager has been a mainstay for all the office-chair coaches and general manages in the soccer world. You can pick up Football Manager 2012 for only $7.49, which is actually 4.79 United Kingdom pounds. This game is for hardcore stat-heads. It’s pretty cool.

If I professed my love for Tim Schafer and Double Fine on DigitalNoob in it’s entirety, I would be shown the door and possibly arrested for lewdness, so I wont. You can get the Double Fine Bundle, which includes Stacking, Psychonauts and Costume Quest for only $7.49. Buy it for yourself and for your loved ones.

I have mixed feelings about Splinter Cell: Conviction. On one hand, it’s smooth gameplay and breathtaking production values have me drooling at my monitor, but then all of the drool reverses back up into my mouth and I get depressed when some whacky AI decides to spot me for no reason. The price is right for five bucks.

One of the greatest games of all time, Bioshock is 75% off for only five dollars. Buy it. Seriously, if you don’t already have this, why don’t you?

The absolutely charming Bastion is only $3.74, and it’s one of the best 2D platforming Action/RPG’s since the SNES. I love this game. Buy it then plug in your wired Xbox controller for the best experience. You should pick up the soundtrack too.

The top down mercenary-filled tactical action game Jagged Alliance: Back in Action is fun in concept, but the game doesn’t play very well. If you’re willing to work with the wonky controls and you’re addicted to isometric viewpoints, you’ll find something to like here for $10.

And then finally, The Indie Pack XI includes World of Goo, Star Ruler, Hydrophobia, Orion: Dino Beatdown, Waveform. That is an excellent variety of games for only ten United States dollars.

So that’s it. It’s over. It’s not without sadness that I leave these pages, wondering what I’m going to do tomorrow without the sale. But I am more than just a Steam sale, we all are, and together, with love, we can become better people. Goodbye Steam Summer Sale. We hardly knew ye.
