TopWare Interactive Shows Off At E3

Those who are unaware of Topware Interactive need to start paying attention, because this company may be small, but they have some big, ambitious ideas. With three great games set to be released relatively soon (there was no set date for all but one of the games when the meeting took place) on multiple platforms, Topware is set to make a mark on the gaming industry in the near future.

Two of Topware’s writers were willing to sit down and show off their games, giving demonstrations, history and insight into all of them with a passion and excitement that can only come from putting a lot of effort into a project.

The first game that was shown off was Raven’s Cry, a story-driven action game that follows a pirate and his quest for revenge on the man who killed his parents. This is a dark and gritty game that will feature some cool new weapons, an realistic style for the main character as far as combat goes, as well as a notoriety system, which will allow NPC’s to know and/or fear you. There is also a choice system that is supposed to affect the story in major ways, giving the game numerous, very different endings, though little was explained during the demonstration, and for good reason.

This was the only major game that was playable, though its in an early build. Raven’s Cry looks great so far, however, and when it releases on Xbox 360, PC, and Playstation 3 in the near future, those who can find it should be pleasantly surprised.

The second of the big games was Sacrilegium, a survival horror game that still in very early stages. Only some stills of concept art were shown, but they are very well done, and give off an dark, intense atmosphere that should do very well in the genre once things get deeper into development.

The third game was Transcripted, a small game that mixes Shoot-’em-up styled firing with Bubble Bobble, in some ways. It features the player running around inside an infected host, attempting to either attack of defend strands of RNA to fix the issue. The game was described as “a little time waster that ends up being played for two hours”. This game should be available for the PC in the next few weeks.

Topware is doing some really great things, so start taking notice, folks. You won’t regret it. Screenshots for all three games are below.

Russ Pirozek, known as "Noobcrawler" to some, is a gamer and comic book fan who sometimes gets around to writing for DigitalNoob.com. He's also awesome. If someone looked up "awesome" in the dictionary, his picture wouldn't be there, but that's because he's too busy being awesome to pose for a photo.
