The Stanley Parable Getting HD Remake, You’ve Gone To Greenlight It
Posted on September 13, 2012 AT 09:14pm
If you haven’t heard of The Stanley Parable, perhaps this is a good time to go download it. I don’t normally rush to post an external link so early into an article, but of any non-game game I’ve ever played, this one may be the hardest to explain without spoiling the whole thing. Well, it’s getting a facelift in the form of a complete remake from the ground up. Or maybe it’s from the ceiling down? Who can ever tell. Anyhow, the remake has been dubbed The Stanley Parable: HD Remix. [cue The Narrator shouting 'Remiiiiixxxx' unnecessarily]
Last June, The Stanley Parable was released by Davey ‘Cakebread’ Wreden as a standalone Half-Life 2 mod on Steam. Here’s the story, in short: You are Stanley, professional button pusher. One day, something different happens, and you have a chance to leave your bland button-pushing job behind. The Narrator [Voiced ever-so-Britishly by Kevan Brighting] helps direct you to your freedom. Well, maybe.
The teaser trailer for the HD Remix is outstanding in its strangeness. If you’re unfamiliar with the original mod, it won’t mean much to you except that it’s confusing and hilarious. If you are familiar with the original, it’s still confusing and hilarious. You should watch it, all the same.
Now is when you click here and upvote The Stanley Parable: HD Remix to ensure that it sees a proper Steam Greenlight release. Or don’t. If you don’t push the YES button, someone else will. Someone more like Stanley. Stanley’s such a good worker.
