Ubisoft’s Unleashes the Watch Dogs
Posted on June 4, 2012 AT 05:17pm
Just when I was complaining about an E3 with little surprises left, Ubisoft knocked it out of the park with the first ever show of their new IP, Watch Dogs.
Set in the present day, players will take the role of Aiden Pearce. A bit of an action hero and a bit of an expert hacker, Pearce will rely on his database hacking abilities -which include tapping into people’s mobile phones and causing car accidents by rigging the traffic lights- to bring down an unknown enemy. From the look of things, he’s also quite handy with a pistol.
Development is being led by Ubisoft Montreal, with veterans from the Assassins Creed, Rainbow 6, and Far Cry franchises. The gameplay video below speaks for itself.
While the on-stage demo was conducted on an Xbox 360, no consoles or release date have been announced. I’ll go out on a limb and say we’ll likely see this in late 2013 for the next generation of consoles.
