Today Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the release date for their upcoming multiplayer online battle arena game based on the Lord of the Rings universe, Guardians of Middle Earth. Players can download Guardians of Middle Earth for $14.99 from Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network on December 4, 2012.  The game will also be released at retail locations throughout North America on December 4, 2012 for $29.99.  The retail release will include access to all Season Pass content.  DLC content will include new maps, characters and an additional game mode.

Guardians of Middle Earth brings up to 10 players together to battle online using one of over 20 iconic Lord of the Rings characters such as Gandalf, Sauron, and Legolas.  The upcoming game will also tie into the upcoming film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
