When Capcom announced it was having Ninja Theory reboot one of its main franchises; this was not what I was expecting. During its pre-Gamescom event today, Capcom announced that Dante’s brother Vergil will be making an appearance in the new Devil May Cry.

The blue coat wearing brother of Dante is going to be a little different this time around though. Vergil recruits his brother into a group known as the Order to help him vanquish a demon lord enslaving mankind.

Yes, you read that correctly, Vergil is apparently working with a group to kill a demon lord enslaving mankind. Well, this is different.

Apparently, the brothers have been estranged since childhood, though Dante doesn’t quite remember Vergil, unlike the original game.

The trailer below shows off some of the changes to his character, along with some more pretty CGI.

DmC: Devil May Cry is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in January 2013.
