Whilce Portacio Brings Non-Humans To Life
Posted on August 21, 2012 AT 08:02pm
One of the founding members of Image Comics, Whilce Portacio, has returned to comics with the announcement of the new book Non-Humans, to be published by the very company he helped create. With art by Portacio and written by Glen Brunswick, the new title focuses on something of both dreams and nightmares.
When a strange illness befalls mankind after a NASA space probe returns from beyond, inanimate objects start taking on a life of their own, creating a new minority of beings unlike any other. These creatures take on part of the personality of their former owners, dark urges and all.
The title is the first comics since Wetworks (which ran from 1994-96, with a relaunch in 2006) for Portacio, who makes a triumphant return to the creator-owned world. A very excited Portacio had this to say:
“It took a long time waiting for the right one to come along that would really fire my imagination. I have the same boundless enthusiasm for NON-HUMANS that I had when Image Comics was first formed. I feel like there are no limits to what we can do with this story.”
Non-Humans will make its debut this October.
