Wargaming.net’s popular free online game has ended 2012 with over 45 million registered players and counting. The game even set the world record for most simultaneous players at once with 600k players on a single Russian server.
The game had to have several updates over the year to handle the large volume of players and even made it to the e-sports world stage when it was apart of the WCG 2012 Grand Finals in China earlier this year.
“Wargaming has demonstrated sustainable growth and solid performance during 2012, mainly due to the success of our headliner – World of Tanks,” said Andrei Yarantsau, VP of Global Operations. And he went on to say, “The tremendous success of World of Tanks has showcased that the company has developed a strong and reliable technological platform with an incredible amount of remaining potential. The result is that we’ll keep being able to provide top-notch online services and regular high quality content and updates.”
Wargaming.net is now working on two new titles, World of Warplanes and World of Warships. They eventually hope to tie all three games under a single platform with a common economic system.
