WTF Wednesday: HELL YEAH! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit

Posted on November 21, 2012 AT 11:00am

I don’t know about you but a game where you play an undead, saw blade jetpack-riding, rifle-wielding, badass rabbit seems pretty WTF to me.  The 2012 downloadable game developed by Arkedo and released by Sega give players control of the titular Dead Rabbit as he makes his way through 10 levels of technicolor craziness.  Mixing the cartoony gore of Castle Crashers with the platforming and shooting of Metal Slug, HELL YEAH! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit is a demented feast for everyone’s inner psychotic (or maybe just me…..but that is part of my charm).

As outrageous as HELL YEAH seems on the surface, it’s even more outrageous in action.  The game starts when the titular undead demon rabbit Ash is photographed while taking a bath with his leather-clad rubber duckie.  The photograph ends up on the cover of a local tabloid and Ash’s authority as an undead bunny lord is called into question.  This sort of disrespect cannot be tolerated so Ash set off on a quest to get revenge on all the monsters who have read the embarrassing story.  The expansive levels are ripe to be explored with secrets hidden all around.  Minor enemies appear at every turn and are easily turned to meat and goo by Ash’s sawblade jetpack.  By defeating major enemies throughout the level, Ash opens up different paths for exploration.  Battles with major enemies are especially interesting because they trigger random minigames.  The player might be tasked with mashing a button on their controller to charge up a laser beam or by stopping a crosshair on a specific area to launch a volley of arrows. After successful completion of the minigame players are treated to an especially brutal yet creepily comical finishing move that fills the screen with assorted fluids and body parts.

Overall, HELL YEAH! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit is filled with all sorts of fun WTF moments.  The heavy metal soundtrack is pretty sweet and free for download form the HELL YEAH! website.  HELL YEAH! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit is available for download for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and for the PC through Steam and Origin.  For more information on HELL YEAH! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit  and to download the killer soundtrack (no pun intended this time, I swear) be sure to visit the game page on the Sega website here.
