G4TV – one of the top cable television channels to catch gaming, and pop culture news and bits is officially cancelling two of their most popular shows from their lineup: X-Play & Attack Of The Show! both of which were G4′s longest running television series. Both series will officially end at the end of 2012 and will include original programming throughout the rest of the year looking back at their history and memorable episodes.
Both shows total over 1,000 episodes each and were outlets for gamers to get their fix on the latest in the industry and the network was defined as a whole to most gamers as the source for gaming information in terms of cable television.
According to a report by Kotaku, a rumor states that NBC Universal plans to shift G4′s focus to a “Esquire” or “GQ” style of programming. I have reached out to NBC Universal for comment on the programming focus shift but at the time of this posting we have not heard anything from them. The full press release from G4 can be found here: http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/729197/g4-marks-the-end-of-aots-and-x-play-with-two-month-farewells/
