Zynga Games Headed To Physical World, Gamers Ask “Why?”
Posted on October 1, 2012 AT 11:50am
Two of Zynga biggest hits, Words With Friends and Draw Something, are effectively social media/digitally-adapted real world, physical games. Nobody doubts that Words With Friends is Scrabble, and Draw Something is Pictionary.
Apparently, Hasbro and Zynga have teamed up to release these games on toy shelves.
Despite Scrabble and Pictionary already existing.
And board games requiring, gasp, actual social interaction, instead of digital.
Words With Friends and Draw Something aren’t the only titles to get the physical treatment. Cityville has an actual Monopoly edition, and Farmville has four games, all variations on actual, traditional games.
The digital editions made waves for their Facebook interconnectivity and, largely, being equal or superior versions to the licensed, pay-for games on iOS. In the physical realm, are they even necessary?
