“Armikrog.” Kickstarter Successful, Wii U Tier Reached

Posted on June 27, 2013 AT 09:58am

Add one more video game Kickstarter success story to the books: Pencil Test Studios, Inc. and Doug TenNapel’s stop-motion claymation point-and-click adventure Armikrog.

Hoping to raise $900,000 in one month the developers — who have also worked on Earthworm Jim and The Neverhood — successfully reached their goal last night, but that wasn’t all. This morning the Wii U stretch goal was also reached, which will give the console version more features thanks to the usage of the second screen. All together, with 18,126 backers Armikrog. was able to raise $974,578.

“It’s been a wild ride for all of us,” said Pencil Test Studios co-founder Mike Dietz in a recent posting. “Fun times, rough times, lots of late nights, lots of Pepsi, but through it all we managed to stay positive even when things seemed to be grinding to a halt during that ‘saggy middle’ of the funding curve. What saw us through was the camaraderie, the encouragement and the friendships so evident among the backers. You guys got us through.”

According to the official Kickstarter page Armikrog. will tell the story of a space explorer named Tommynaut and his blind alien, talking dog named Beak-Beak. Both find themselves crash-landed on a weird planet and end up locked in a mysterious fortress called Armikrog. The game will feature unique worlds, mind-challenging puzzles, and as much humor as there is clay. Armikrog. will also feature a talented line-up of voice actors, including Michael J. Nelson (Mystery Science Theater 3000, RiffTrax), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, School For Scoundrels), Rob Paulsen (Animaniacs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Veronica Belmont (Tekzilla), as well as bring back award-winning composer of The Neverhood Terry S. Taylor to create what may well be a very unique soundtrack.

Armikrog. is due to be released in July 2014 on PC, Mac, Linux, and the Wii U eShop.
