Big News for Metal Gear Solid Fans

Posted on August 7, 2012 AT 03:46pm

Usually, when a game has been out for over four years, the updates have long since ended.  Kojima productions has officially proven that wrong today with an awesome announcement for a certain PS3 exclusive.  In addition, we have more big news regarding the HD remastered versions of the original games in that series.  So fire up your codec and practice some CQC, because we’ve got several pieces of big news regarding the Metal Gear Solid series today.

First off, the phrase “better late than never” has officially been proven true.  If you pop in your copy of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots right now, it will update the game providing full trophy support.  These 34 trophies range are certainly a good incentive to play through this amazing PS3 classic once again.

Also announced today, each of the individual Metal Gear Solid games remastered in HD will soon be available to purchase from PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace.  The release schedule for the games are as follows:

On August 21st:

  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty – HD Edition (PS Vita & PS3)
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater – HD Edition (PS Vita & PS3)
  • Metal Gear Solid – HD Collection – MGS2 + MGS3 (X360)

On August 28th:

  • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (PS3 & X360)
  • Metal Gear Solid – HD Collection Bundle – MGS2 + MGS3 + Peace Walker (PS3)

If you already had copies of some of these games and wanted to flesh out your collection, this will be a great opportunity.  Either way, it’s been a pretty good day for anyone out there who loves to crawl into digital cardboard boxes.
