E3 2012 | Summer Window for PSOne Classics on Vita Official
Posted on June 7, 2012 AT 12:13am
The PlayStation Vita has already proven itself to be a great addition to the portable market. With games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Lumines: Electronic Symphony already under its belt and Gravity Rush and LittleBigPlanet on the way, it’s already got a lot going for it. Something, however seems like it’s missing from the handheld. The ability to play PSOne Classics has been one of the most requested features and it is officially on the way soon.
On the show floor at E3, tucked away amongst many other awesome Vita titles were a few units playing the PSOne Classics games. There were just a few playable on the demo unit, but the rep assured me that all of the classics games previously playable on the PSP will be available to play on the Vita when the firmware update drops in mid-to-late summer this year. The L2 and R2 buttons will be used by pressing on the back corners of the back touch screen of the Vita. Games will be viewable in either their original 4:3 resolution or on the full 8 inches of the device. If you’ve got a bunch of PSOne Classics sitting on the rafters waiting to be made mobile, this is the update you’ve been waiting for.
