My Favorite Anime Opening Theme for Fall 2012

Posted on December 30, 2012 AT 06:41pm

It has not been an amazing season for anime music this fall. Don’t get me wrong; most of the opening songs this fall were solid, so it wasn’t a horrible season either. My problem is that a lot of the music I’ve encountered in the fall have that predictable anime OP theme sound. So the songs with the most sonic imagination made it to my short list, and only one is my favorite of the fall. Let’s get to it, then!

My Runners-Up

“Abnormalize” (Psycho-Pass)

This is also an OP theme I love because the vocals are so breathy. The song then kicks the door in and picks up with guitar and drums less than half a minute in. That is where the fun truly begins!

“V.I.P” (Magi – The Labyrinth of Magic)

Yeah! Let’s go on an adventure!! I mean, can you blame me for loving this song? That chorus picks me up like a, a, giant blue genie with a flute for a head.

“JoJo Sono Chi no Sadame” (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)

This opening song is so full of manly power that I couldn’t resist. If this theme took human form and told me “I’m going to punch you square in the face, like, a hundred times, I would let it. No questions asked.

The Best Anime OP Theme for Fall 2012

“Kamisama Hajimemashita” (Kamisama Hajimemashita)

There was no equal to this song for me in the fall season. I just couldn’t get enough of it, and I felt so great whenever I heard it. I assume it was made specifically for the show (has to be, right?) and I think that the crew behind the anime made a great choice in Hanae for their OP.
Next, I’ll pick an ED theme, and that will prove to be an even easier task.

If you love keeping up on geek news, you've come to the right guy.
