There’s a New Console on the Block Called Ouya
Posted on July 9, 2012 AT 09:10pm
Oh yeah. The rumors are true. There’s a new gaming console in development call Ouya and you’ll never guess the OS in this bad boy.
Ouya is a $99 box running on the Android platform and focuses on free gaming. Here’s the best part. To quote the developers of the system, ”Even the underlying hardware is ‘built to be hacked’—every customer who buys a retail box will get a dev kit in the bargain”, they claim.
Yves Béhar, the crafter behind the One Laptop Per Child computer, is responsible for the look of the Ouya. The project is backed by ex-IGN executive Julie Uhrman, Ed Fries who is Microsoft’s former vice president of Xbox game publishing, and other top tech heads.
With the popularity of the Playstation3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii, could the Ouya be a contender for the top living room gaming console spot?
