Remember the Nintendo Virtual Boy? That was a major bomb, wasn’t it? Never mind that, though. We’ve been waiting for virtual reality to be as cool as it is in movies, and Oculus promises just that.

Company Oculus has, by the time you are reading this, surpassed their Kickstarter goal and has more than doubled the money they wanted to raise. Besides explaining what makes the Rift different from the virtual reality headsets of the past, there is an impressive ammounts of favors Oculus called in to promote their product. There are a lot of prominent video game industry folks in their Kickstarter video.

The last time an immerse gaming experience has made waves is the Track IR, an $150 device that sits on your monitor and matches your head movements with your on-screen character. Of course we have the Wii, the Kinect and the PS Move, but Oculus says that they’re going “change the face of gaming.” Let’s hope so.
