Besides newly cleaned-up picture and sound, both versions will also include two commentaries — one with Boyle and the other with screenwriter John Hodge and producer Andrew Macdonald — Kevin Macdonald’s original making-of documentary “Digging Your Own Grave,” a video diary of Kevin and Andrew Macdonald trying to sell the film at the 1992 Edinburg Film Festival, he original trailer, and new interviews with actors Ewan McGregor, Christopher Eccleston, and Kerry Fox. The DVD will retail for $29.95 while the Blu-ray will be $39.95.

Two weeks later, the company will end the month with Alfred Hitchcock’s spy movie, “The 39 Steps.” Both the DVD and Blu-ray will come with restored picture and sound, commentary by Hitchcock scholar Marian Keane, a 2000 British documentary about Hitchcock’s prewar career called “Hitchcock: The Early Years,” footage from a 1966 interview with Hitchcock, production design drawings, the 1937 Luxe Radio Theater adaptation of the movie, and excepts from Francois Truffaut’s 1962 audio interview with Hitchcock. The DVD will retail for $29.95 while the Blu-ray will be $39.95.

Finally, that same day will also see the release of Hiroshi Inagaki’s “The Samurai Trilogy,” which includes the movies “Musashi Miyamoto,” “Duel At Inchijoji Temple,” and “Duel At Ganryu Island.” Along with their usual clean-up job, Criterion are also including new English subtitle translations, the original trailers, and new interviews with translator and historian William Scott Wilson about the real Musashi Miyamoto.
