Criterion have announced they’ll release a special edition DVD and Blu-ray of Guillermo Del Toro’s horror movie The Devil’s Backbone on July 30.

Along with digitally-restored version of the film approved by Del Toro, both versions will also include a commentary and introduction by Del Toro, deleted scenes, a new interview with Del Toro, a 2010 interview with Del Toro called “Spanish Gothic,” a 2004 making-of featurette called “¿Que Es Un Fantasma?,” an interactive director’s notebook, a new featurette about the Spanish Civil War, the original trailer, new English subtitles, and a comparison between Del Toro’s original sketches and Carlos Giménez’s storyboards with their respective scenes from the film.

In addition, the Blu-ray version will also add an option to view Del Toro’s sketches as you watch their respective scenes from the movie.

The two-disc DVD will retail for $29.95, while the Blu-ray will be $39.95.

Criterion also announced that their other July titles will include Babette’s Feast, Ang Lee’s The Ice Storm, The Life Of Oharu, and the 1963 adaptation of William Golding’s Lord Of The Flies that you probably last saw in your high school English class.
