Play The Great Gatsby Game, Donate A Book To Charity

Out of Print Clothing—who make t-shirts and other things with images from famous book covers, and then donate a book to the charity Books for Africa—have put a playable game on their website inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel The Great Gatsby, and if you score 25,000 points in it, they’ll donate a book to B.F.A.

Originally released in 2011, the game is an 8-bit style 2D side-scrolling shooter, which is about as relevant to the original novel as, say, a 3D movie with a hip-hop soundtrack. But it’s for charity, and it’s free, so you really have no excuse not to play it.

There’s also no excuse not to shop their site, which include shirts and other fun stuff inspired by such classic geeky novels as Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle In Time, George Orwell’s Animal Farm and 1984, Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, among others.

The game can be found here.
