Playstation 3 upon release was very interesting considering the ability to open the system and change hard drives without loss of warranty, and the use of the otherOS features to be able to use the system as a full fledge PC as a option.

Those were the testing stages and it appears that both Sony & Microsoft learned a thing or two.

With the Steambox coming out as well trying to take over the living room space with a PC formula, it seems that consoles are actually prepared for this challenge with upgradeability options for the platforms.
