The next Pokémon game will be a detective adventure title starring Pikachu, Japanese broadcast company NHK revealed today.
According to Serebii, two demos were shown during an episode of the NHK show “The Professionals,” on which The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekaz Ishihara appeared. The first demo shown was a beta version of a Pokemon puzzle game, described as the successor to 2005’s Tetris-like DS title Pokémon Trozei.
The second demo (seen in the image above) showed off the Pikachu-centric Pokémon game revealed to be in the works earlier this month. According to Serebii’s translation, the new game involves players solving crimes alongside Pikachu and striving to stop an evil alternate version of the Pokémon mascot. There will also be a blue Pikachu that talks, apparently, that is somehow controlled through facial recognition and motion capture.
Pikachu’s Detective Adventure Starring…You! (or whatever TPC decides to call this thing) is expected to launch sometime 2015.
