A new gameplay video has been released for Pokémon X and Y showcasing an early battle between starter Pokémon Froakie and a level five Fletchling.

The footage is taken from Pokémon Smash, Japan’s weekly Pokémon TV program. The video also shows a sequence from later in the game where the player is using Honedge to fight an Octillery.

Pokémon X and Y are due to launch exclusively for 3DS on October 12.
