THE BUZZ: DICE has recently announced, via Battlefield 3′s Battlelog message board, that a patch addressing voice chat issues for the Playstation 3 version of the game is coming soon. Chat issues cropped up very early in the September beta for the game. DICE had said that fixing them would be a top priority but until now has remained silent. Tommy Rydling, Junior Product Manager at DICE said, “We have a fix on its way for the VOIP [voice over internet protocol] issue that some Battlefield 3 players have experienced on PS3.” No timeframe was given for when players can expect the patch, but players should look for it soon.
EGM’s TAKE: One of the greatest aspects of this generation has been the ability for developers to patch our games and fix them when they break. Subsequently, one of the most egregious problems with this generation is when games ship broken because developers have that same ability to patch fixes in later. Regardless of what side of the fence you sit on, we can all agree, twelve year olds yelling how about they like to treat our mothers is the real issue here, so for some this patch is will be a godsend and for others this is a disaster.
