Microsoft officially kicked off E3 with Kojima Production’s latest foray in the Metal Gear franchise. Set in an open world with realistic weather patterns, tactical espionage, and (wait for it) horses! Yes, that’s right, horses.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain looks an awful lot like Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption. And to tell you the truth, that’s not a bad thing. The open world we saw is gorgeous, and populated with plenty of eye-pleasing visuals. If you were to walk away with anything, here’s a list of things we witnessed in the first-ever gameplay reveal:
- Set in Afghanistan.
- Returning characters include Solid Snake, Ocelot, and Master Miller.
- A direct reference was made to Outer Heaven for the first time.
- Clearly some stuff in Africa which is going to tie directly into the plot of OG Metal Gear.
