The next installment in the Battlefield series has been revealed, and the game’s first official trailer confirms reports of a World War I setting in spectacular, brutal fashion.
The new game is titled Battlefield 1, presumably to complement the war in which it takes place. Rumors have circulated for a while about a WWI setting for the next Battlefield title, but the trailer reveals some details on the game that didn’t make it out to the community such as the inclusion of horses, zeppelins, multi-person biplanes, and a seemingly heavy focus on gritty melee combat.
Details on the Battlefield 1‘s campaign were scarce during the reveal event, but DICE did confirm that the story will follow multiple characters from the many countries that took part in the war, also citing a desire to bring more of the so-called “Battlefield moments” into the single-player portion of the game.
DICE was much more forthcoming when it came to multiplayer, detailing a huge number of exciting additions to the franchise.
The newly confirmed release date for Battlefield 1 is October 21st, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Fans subscribed to EA Access will get to try out the game early on Xbox One and PC systems.
