THE BUZZ: Gearbox knows you like Ninjas, so much so they put one in Borderlands 2. IGN is reporting that Borderlands 2 Assassin class is basically a ninja with a sword. Meet ZerO the Assassin, the newest playable character in Borderlands 2. Of course there’s more to the Assassin class than just a sword. According to the report, The Assassin has a number of skills that allow him to attack his enemies without notice. One skill in particular allows ZerO to deploy holographic decoys onto the battlefield and turn on a Predator style stealth mode to catch unsuspecting enemies.
One of the more interesting skills ZerO has is called Be Like Water, which is explained by Paul Hellquist, the game’s creative director: “every time you shoot an enemy it increases your melee damage for a few seconds and then every time you melee someone it increases your shoot damage for a few seconds, so it encourages people to switch back and forth and do this ninja dance of gun to sword to gun to sword. It’s a really neat and fun skill.”
The Assassin’s class in Borderlands 2 looks to be a very interesting choice for anyone looking to snipe enemies at a distance or close in on them with some severely cool close combat tactics.
EGM’s TAKE: The first Borderlands was a great game that took everybody by surprise, thanks of it’s addictive gameplay and creative combat situations. The sequel looks like it is upping the ante tenfold. The game looks great, the classes look fun, but most importantly for us, the personality of Borderlands seems to have been retained in this sequel. We can’t wait.
