Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare‘s first story trailer has given extra confirmation of what we already knew: Kevin Spacey is bringing all that smug House of Cards evil to Activision’s first-person shooter franchise.
Of course, if Spacey’s digitized mug isn’t enough to satisfy you, the trailer also offers a deeper look at the big bad PMC outlet Atlas, the game’s Troy Baker?voiced hero, Jack Mitchell, and some of the high tech gadgetry you’ll be able to use to bend the world’s governments to your will. Of particular note? A adorable little robotic fly. He might look unassuming, but I’m guessing you’re going to use him to slaughter like 70 guys at once.
Just as intriguing, though, is the brief tease at the end of the game’s multiplayer component, which will be revealed on August 11. (Be sure to check back then for our coverage!) The short glimpse shows soldiers using their exosuits’ jump jets to dodge from side to side and leap to inhuman heights, as well as what appears to be a rolling tidal wave sweeping over the map.
From the looks of things, Advanced Warfare will be taking cues from both Titanfall‘s mobility and Battlefield 4‘s “levolution.” At the very least, it looks like all those complaints about Call of Duty‘s multiplayer offering the same basic gameplay year after year will have to sit 2014 out.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is due out November 4 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
