Update: Bloodstained is officially funded, with over $14,000 more than its $500,000 goal and still a month go go to collect further funds. At $600,000, the artbook will be made available tin hardcover. $700,000 will add a new playable character, $800,000 the Nightmare difficulty mode, and $850,000 will go toward voice acting by former Solid Snake, David Hayter.

Original Story: Castlevania designer Koji Igarashi today launched a Kickstarter campaign for his first post-Konami project, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, an exploration-centric 2D side-scrolling platformer.

The ?Igavania?-style game is only in the early stages of development, but the designer describes it as something any Symphony of the Night fans will find familiar, though with an added emphasis on ?RPG and crafting elements.?

Igarashi is looking for $500,000 in funding, and if successful, will bring the platformer to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Backers will be rewarded with physical retail discs. As of the writing of this post, the project has crested over $42,699 and is well on its way to $500,000, with 32 days still left to go.
