Zeboyd Games has released a half-hour video playthrough of the Cosmic Star Heroine demo that was playable earlier this month at PlayStation Experience. It’s the same demo I raved about at the show, so you’d definitely do well to give it a glance if turn-based RPGs are up your alley.

In particular, keep an eye out for the battle system, which struck me as an particularly clever solution to many of the problems I’ve had with some turn-based games in the past. Seeing the Style mechanics and ability cooldowns in action helps explain them far better than I ever could, and hopefully this lengthy footage makes it apparent just how many strategic options are at your disposal once you’ve mastered the quirks of the system.

It’s worth noting that the video is of an alpha build of the game and doesn’t represent final quality?notably, the chests don’t contain any items at the moment, and Zeboyd has confirmed they will in the finished game?but it’s still a great, in-depth look at a promising title.

Cosmic Star Heroine is slated for release on PlayStation 4, Vita, PC, and Mac sometime in 2015.
