Dug up by MMO Champion is this image of a trademark filing by Blizzard, one which could give a very big hint as to where World of Warcraft will be heading next.

Here are a few facts:

* MMO Champion states that internal codes 009 and 041 only appear on game trademarks for Blizzard, meaning that this isn’t another sort of media such as a book.

* NeoGAF forum member Kifimbo points out that the Cataclysm trademark had a very similar description in its trademark filing.

* The same person points out that Cataclysm was trademarked in July 2009, and then announced a month later at Blizzcon. This year’s Blizzcon is in October, so the timing isn’t all that different.

* A leaked schedule for Blizzard projects shows the next World of Warcraft expansion set for Q2 of next year. So, again, the timing of the announcement at Blizzcon would be logical.
