CCP Games, creator of EVE Online, is once again venturing into the world of VR with the announcement of their newest game, Gunjack.
Gunjack, which runs on the Samsung Gear VR and is set in the universe of EVE, places players at the controls of a gun turret (the eponymous “gunjack”) on a mining vessel in space. Players must defend the vessel from space pirates and other enemies while collecting power-ups.
“Remember,” advises the narrator in the trailer, “stay calm, pick your targets, and most importantly, kill them all.”
“Our goal was nothing less than creating the best game yet for the Gear VR headset,” said Jean-Charles Guadechon, executive producer on Gunjack. “Our team has focused on delivering the most action-packed, graphically-stunning game possible on this new virtual reality platform.”
Gunjack isn’t CCP Games only foray into VR. EVE: Valkyrie, another game in the Eve Online universe, is in development for the Oculus Rift. While EVE: Valkyrie has no set release date, Gunjack is expected to be available at the launch of the consumer Samsung Gear VR headset this fall.
