A German retailer has outed details about the upcoming 3.0 edition of Disney Infinity, including confirmation that Star Wars characters will be joining the lineup of figurines.
The product shots, since taken down from German electronics retailer Saturn.de, show an starter kit that includes Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano figurines based on their designs from the Clone Wars animated TV show. It’s not clear what other characters will be playable in the game, but the box art shows renders of C-3PO, R2-D2, Princess Leia, Yoda, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Darth Maul. Iconic creatures and vehicles?such as the Star Destroyer, tauntaun, Naboo fighter, and podracers?are also depicted. It’s probably safe to assume that all those and more will be included in the game in some fashion.
While there’s a chance the leak might be some elaborate forgery, it looks less and less likely as time goes on. Disney Interactive has started requesting that stories about the images on Disney Infinity fan sites be taken down, and developer John Vignocchi tweeted “#facepalm #facepalm #facepalm” shortly after the news broke. Most convincing, however, is a tweet from the official Disney Infinity account that reads, “Geduld du haben must,” which is a rough German translation of “Patience, you must have.” Sounds a lot like Yoda chastising a German retailer to me.
Current speculation has the official reveal of Disney Infinity pegged for May 4, a day that Star Wars fans have adopted as an unofficial holiday in honor of the sci-fi franchise due to an increasingly tired pun, “May the Fourth be with you.”
This isn’t the first major leak about Disney Infinity 3.0. Last month, a Chinese retailer allegedly outed the Disney Originals lineup of figures, which included Mulan and the emotions from Pixar’s upcoming Inside Out, among others.
