Heart Machine’s retro-stylized Hyper Light Drifter has a new trailer and with it, finally, a release date of Spring 2016.

The new trailer features the protagonist quickly navigating through dangerous levels packed with intense bosses and environmental dangers, and gives the feel of Diablo meets Hotline Miami meets Sword & Sworcery.

HLD was Kickstarted in October of 2013, and had originally planned for a summer 2014 launch. Despite making over $600,000 more than it’s original goal of $27,000, the title has faced several delays leading up until this most recent announcement. Despite backer frustration, Heart Machine has defended their decisions to consistently push back the game.

“We have set a high standard for ourselves throughout the entire process, and will not compromise those to release a title before it’s ready,” wrote the developer in a Kickstarter update. “We’ve seen how that choice turns out time and time again. The final game will be far better for it.”

Hyper Light Drifter is scheduled for release on PC and Macintosh in spring 2016, with later ports coming for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, and Wii U.
