While it may not be Half-Life 3, film director J.J. Abrams has confirmed that movies based on both the Half-Life and Portal series are in the works.

In a recent interview with IGN regarding his most recent film, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Abrams was asked about the two game-based films, and if he had any updates regarding them.

“Not yet, but they’re in development,” said Abrams. “We’ve got writers, and we’re working on both those stories?but nothing that would be an exciting update.”

Originally teased at DICE in 2013, this is the most we’ve heard about the movies in a while, but that doesn’t mean that Abrams has been absent from the gaming community. Most recently, he has been working alongside Chair Entertainment to co-create a game entitled Spyjinx.

Watch out, Guillermo. Looks like you’ve got competition.
