The fourth Just Cause 3 developer diary, released on the game’s YouTube channel, details the new narrative behind Rico’s next endeavor.

The developers begin by discussing how the story could not take itself too seriously provided the game’s core design, but how it also aims to carry more emotional wait than the previous titles.

When Rico was young, a dictator enacted a coup on his home country of Medici which left Rico’s parents dead and forced him to flee the land. The country fell under the rule of the vicious General Di Ravello, and after many years, Rico’s childhood friend implores him to return and aid in the revolution.

During his reign, the General gained access to a new material on the island called Bavarium. This super element has many unique properties and will be the source of many of the missions Rico is tasked with handling.

The video continues by discussing the developers direction with motion capture and how they decided to utilize full performance capture in order to better retain the subtle nuances of a character’s interactions. It concludes with details on the game’s AI systems and how their operations will be both reactionary and independent of Rico’s influence.

More developer diaries on the game’s destruction physics, locational setting, and Rico Rodriguez himself are available for those wishing to expand their Just Cause 3 knowledge.

Just Cause 3 is slated for release December 1st for PS4, Xbox One, PC.

Nick didn’t start gaming until mid-2006. Once his parents finally allowed a console into the house, it was all uphill from there. Starting out with a PS2, he grew an affinity for Sony consoles and moved on to the PS3, and now the PS4. He keeps his gaming palette wide, but, gun to his head, he’d have to say shooters are his genre of choice. Find him on Twitter @idole808
