A third installment in the ever popular Knights of the Old Republic series was in development at Obsidian, creative director Chris Avellone has revealed.
Avellone stated that this third entry would have featured Revan a lot more than the second game did. “I always liked the idea that Revan, as smart and powerful as your player-character was, was actually even more of a brilliant strategist than became apparent in the first game,” Avellone told Eurogamer.
“The entire second game is littered with clues as to ‘why didn’t Revan destroy the infrastructure here? What was he trying to make sure was still intact? What did he/she see that no one else saw?'” In the third game players would have taken control of a character referred to as “The Exile” with his mission being to track down Revan.
Sadly LucasArts just didn’t seem interested in a third game. “It felt like we were pitching and pitching [to LucasArts] and it just wasn’t going anywhere, and at some point people just drew a line and said ‘it’s just not going to happen,’ which made us kind of sad, but, OK, if that’s the business, that’s the business,” he explained.
In February 2013 Obsidian revealed that it was pitching a new Star Wars game to Disney, however it had nothing to do with the Knights of the Old Republic 3, according to Eurogamer.
