Max Payne 3 Delayed

THE BUZZ: Take-Two has announced that Max Payne 3 has suffered a delay from its original release date of March.

A delay is never a good thing for gaming fans, especially on such a massive title like Max Payne. The console version will now release May 15, in North America and May 18, in Europe. The PC version will arrive May 29 in NA and June 1 in Europe.

EGM’s TAKE: It appears that Take-Two is more beat up about the situation than most fans, mainly due to the game now coming out in fiscal year 2013, meaning that the company will record a loss in fiscal 2012. Bad news for investors and shareholders. “We do not take changes to our release schedule lightly, and this short delay will ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our Company,” said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two. “Max Payne 3 promises to be one of our most exciting releases to date, and we are confident that consumers will once again be amazed by Rockstar’s ability to take interactive entertainment to another level.”

Fans have been waiting since 2003 for a chance to enjoy some Max Payne bullet time action once again so I’m sure they can survive a couple more months. It’s amazing how much the game’s fortunes have turned since its announcement; when we first got the pictures of a bald out of shape Max fans were up in arms, but the more that has been shown, the more excitement has grown, to a point where Max Payne 3 is one of the most anticipated games of 2012. We must hand it to the Rockstar marketing team there.
