Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Monolith Productions’ spectacular open-world action-adventure, was at the top of several game of the year lists at the end of 2014. If you’d like everything the game has to offer, including the downloadable content released since critics showered it with all those awards, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition will release on May 5th for $49.99 on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
This edition will include both the Bright Lord and Lord of the Hunt story packs, nine Runes (Hidden Blade, Deadly Archer, Flame of Anor, Rising Storm, Orc Slayer, Defiant to the End, Elven Grace, Ascendant, One with Nature), seven challenge modes (Test of Power, Test of Speed, Test of Wisdom, Endless Challenge, Test of the Wild, Test of the Ring, Test of Defiance), three missions (Guardians of the Flaming Eye, The Berserks and The Skull Crushers), and six skins (The Dark Ranger, Captain of the Watch, Lord of the Hunt, The Bright Lord, Power of Shadow, and Lithariel).
This is all in addition to the already solid core game, whose Nemesis system was a revelation for many?inspiring none other than BioShock creator Ken Levine, who’s been known to have a solid idea or two over the years. Monolith Productions has remained mum on any follow-up plans, but we’ve got a planned chat with them coming up, and you can bet that we’ll try to squeeze out any info we can when it comes to the future of the franchise.
