Mortal Kombat 11 almost certainly won’t have cross-play when it launches this April, but there’s potential for it supporting the feature later down the line.
At a recent press event in London, WCCFTech asked developer NetherRealm Studios about the possibility of cross-play making it into the fighter. According to game designer Derek Kirtzic, it is something the developer is looking into for post-launch, but no details are being discussed at this time.
Cross-play became a hot-button topic in 2018, leading to Sony’s abandonment of its consumer-unfriendly cross-play policies. Ever since, numerous games have announced the addition or coming addition of cross-platform support, most recently being the upcoming Trials Rising.
Mortal Kombat 11 is slated to launch April 23rd on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and while a Switch release is also planned, it may experience a short delay. In other MK11 news, the developer may have recently leaked the return of Reptile.
