CI Games has released a new trailer for their upcoming World War II first-person shooter Enemy Front that takes a haunting look back at the Warsaw Uprising of 1944.

The Warsaw Uprising was the bloodiest resistance-centered conflict of World War II. The event saw between 150,000 and 200,000 Polish people killed during the two-month battle, most of whom were slaughtered by way of mass execution (as depicted in the trailer embedded below). When combined with the initial 1939 Nazi invasion and the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, 85% of the city was left obliterated before the Germans finally withdrew from Poland in January of 1945.

Although light on gameplay, the trailer definitely helps set a tone for what we will finally see from a game that has been in development limbo for so long. It also gives a glimpse at what CI Games has been able to achieve graphically using CryEngine 3.

Enemy Front is slated to launch across Xbox 360, PS3, and PC sometime this summer.
