PopCap confirmed during EA’s Gamescom showcase event that players will be able to take control of zombies in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, and also revealed a new mode.

The zombies include an undead football player, a construction worker, a grunt soldier, a mad scientist, and a football fan with a dynamite hat. You can check out footage of all five in action below.

The developer also revealed a new game mode for PvZ titled Boss Mode, which is exclusive to Xbox One. Players will take control of either Crazy Dave or Doctor Zomboss as Commanders on the battlefield. Players can resupply troops, launch artillery strikes, and stop enemy plans–think Battlefield 4‘s Commander Mode and you get the idea.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will release first on Xbox 360 and Xbox One in spring 2014.
