Last month, developer Press Play displayed three original game concepts on their website and offered fans the chance to vote on their favorite to send into development. Today, the votes are in, and the winner has been chosen: Project: Knoxville.

The third-person multiplayer action game takes its inspiration from stories like The Running Man and The Hunger Games. Its goal is to create an environment where survival depends as much on social connections and alliances as it does on skill, and it places players inside a game show-type setting where other players in the audience can subtly influence the outcome.

Project: Knoxville won by a landslide, grabbing 46% of the votes. Its competitors, Project: Karoo and Project: Dwarka, came in at 29% and 25%, respectively.

Press Play’s goal is to keep the fans involved throughout development of Project: Knoxville, so starting on Thursday, September 17th, the development team will host bi-weekly Twitch streams from on their official channel. You can follow the development of Project: Knoxville over on Microsoft’s website.
