Resident Evil

The dream of ’90s survival horror is alive and well at Capcom, as Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster has sold nearly 1 million copies, according to recent financial results from the company.

The number comes from Capcom’s end of fiscal year 2016 briefing and validates the developer’s strategy to focus on releasing more remasters after the record-breaking success of the first Resident Evil HD Remaster. News of the stellar sales for RE0 HD, which only accounted for digital copies, also comes during the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, adding momentum for a major franchise push expected for the second half of this year.

Capcom’s Resident Evil throwback catalog will expand with the planned release of a full remake of Resident Evil 2, and the current-generation ports of Resident Evil 5 in the summer and Resident Evil 4 in the fall. Resident Evil 6 was rereleased in March.
