Studio Wildcard has offered a look at several new environments that will be added to ARK: Survival Evolved over the coming weeks.

First up is Ruins, which will appear in several locations around the ARK. “The ruins play a key role in the ARK backstory, and we played around with a few looks before we settled on what became the final style,” the developer explained. “The ruins appear as if they are being consumed back into the island over a long period of time, adding a sense of mystery to their origin.

“The ruins were designed to be simple and versatile and with only a few small changes, really look like they live in the biome they are located. To make them fun to discover we placed some in obvious locations and others in some very difficult and well-hidden locations.”

There’s also a new Ice Cave, which is is located in the heart of the new snow biome. “The layout is one of the easier layouts to explore being more linear, but we offset that with the need for higher level gear and careful management of your stats,” Studio Wildcard writes. “We also created a lot of really fun little jumping puzzles, but be careful! The penalty for misjudging your distance can result in great bodily harm or even death.”

Finally, the developer is adding a Broodmother Arena in the heart of the swamp, which provides players with the ability to attack from a lot of different vantage points.

Take a look at screenshots for all three new areas below.
