Square Enix yesterday filed a trademark for something called World of Assassination through Europe’s Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM), NeoGAF users spotted.
Beyond the name and the usual associated words (“Computer game software,” “computer games,” “video game software,” “video games,” yadda yadda), there isn’t much to go on with this trademark. But given the word “assassination” in its title, many online are speculating that it’s Hitman related—possibly another mobile spin-off like Hitman Go.
It could also be the name for the sixth proper Hitman game, which is supposed to be revealed this year. Among the numerous rumors surrounding the upcoming Hitman, there’s been a lot of talk about a more open-world design, which the World of Assassination title plays into.
Square Enix also filed a trademark for something called Puzzle Soccer, which seems a bit more straightforward. As one would expect, its goods and services description also mentions “games for mobile phones” (though so, too, does World of Assassination’s—so it could be all encompassing or completely damning).
