During their financial report today, EA announced the current active subscriber base for Star Wars: The Old Republic—which sits noticeably lower than it did just three months ago.
Back in February, the total active user base for The Old Republic was listed as 1.7 million users. Today, that number is 1.3 million—a drop of 400,000 users.
The truth about any MMORPG is that, a short time after launch, the population numbers can easily go down. People buy the game curious to try it out, and obviously not everybody is going to decide to stick around. However, that seems like a somewhat sizable drop for as high profile of an MMO as The Old Republic.
The question now is where popular will level off—and if the game can reverse the trend and increase population growth from here (via either the upcoming DLC expansions, or by growing word of mouth).
Did you jump on board Star Wars: The Old Republic when it came out—and if so, are you still playing?
