Bullfrog Productions? 1993 cyberpunk real-time tactical game Syndicate is now free for PC users as part of EA?s On the House initiative for their digital distribution service Origin.
Syndicate imagines a not-so-unrealistic future in which corporations vie for control of geographical territories by waging war against one another. Players operate their own syndication and must eke out the competish by flexing muscle in various manners?assassinations, corporate theft, and persuasion among them.
Bullfrog?s seminal cyberpunk game was later reimagined by Starbreeze Studios almost 20 years later, in 2012, with the similarly named PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 shooter Syndicate (an often undervalued and overlooked cyberpunk shooter with a script penned by Altered Carbon author Richard K. Morgan).
As with all On the House offers, once you download the game, it is forever yours even when it stops being featured in the initiative. Past On the House games include Dragon Age: Origins, Battlefield 3, and Dead Space.
