THE BUZZ: Everyone’s favorite neighborhood Spider-Man returns in The Amazing Spider-Man. Rocking his threads from the movie of the same name, the debut trailer from the Spike TV Video Game Awards showed off what seemed to be an open world environment being ravaged by a giant maniacal robot. Spider-Man is seen swinging-in to rescue citizens and punching mechanical menaces to bits, against a destroyed New York City backdrop. Beenox, the creator of the last two Spider-Man games: Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time, is developing the game.

EGM’s TAKE: So Shepard enlisted Spidey to help him against Reapers. Makes sense to us, the amount of generic robots Spider-Man has handled over the years makes him the perfect recruit. While Beenox hasn’t had the best track record with Spider-Man lately they were at the helm for the grossly underrated Ultimate Spider-Man, an open world game that took good advantage of its environment rather than succumb to it, like so many others.
